Five-time champion Ronnie O’Sullivan made light work of beating 2003 winner Matthew Stevens 6-2 to reach the UK Championship quarter-finals.

O’Sullivan scored a rapid century to open and although Stevens responded with a 74, he stole the third frame after the Welshman missed a pink on 56.

The Englishman maintained his tempo, scoring three more half centuries.

Englishman Shaun Murphy beat China’s Zhou Yuelong 6-2, with two tons and two 50s to win the last four frames.
