Higgins has won four World Championship titles

John Higgins moved up to second in the world rankings after beating fellow Scotsman and defending champion Anthony McGill 5-1 to win the Indian Open.

It was a 29th ranking title for the 42-year-old, who moves ahead of Steve Davis and Ronnie O’Sullivan and is now only behind Stephen Hendry, who has 36.

Higgins took the first two frames and built a 3-1 lead at the interval.

There were no century breaks in the Visakhapatnam final and only one over 50, a 71 for Higgins in frame four.
