Danny Cipriani says Premiership semi-final opponents Leicester Tigers will be a “huge challenge” for Wasps.
The 29-year-old fly-half started his career at Wasps before leaving for Australia in 2011, while he rejoined the club in 2016 from Sale.
Cipriani believes the old Wasps team he played in from 2006 to 2010 is slightly better than the current side.
“How close is this to the old team? Talent-wise, I would say it’s slightly ahead,” he said.
“They might not have the glitz and the glamour of the Willie le Rouxs but they had the experience and the ‘stalwartness’ which was embedded in them and I think that came as a group getting to semi-finals.”
Wasps finished top of this season’s Premiership table and will host Leicester Tigers in the semi-finals at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday.
